When walking past the long-awaited Publix store in the Overtown area, I noticed that the Publix signs were visible and not covered up! Maybe it was due to the small storms we had over the weekend, I thought?
I live in the Park-Line apartments, which is on top of the Miami Central station, and one of the reasons we moved here was because Publix was going to be opening up, and it looked almost complete. That was in June of last year, in the middle of the pandemic.
Fast forward to today, the Publix website officially shows the opening date for the Overtown location, August 19th.
New apartments have bee completed in the Park West neighborhood. Soleste Grand Central is finishing up in the historically black area, and Block 55 is breaking ground soon, bringing Aldi, Target, Ulta, Ross, and Youfit. One hundred fifty-four residential apartments aimed at individuals and families that earn 50% of the median income will be included in this project.
